What we do

At Fairmile School, we offer a range of therapy services that are crucial for our students' development. Our Occupational Therapy helps students develop the skills necessary for daily living and independence.
Speech and Language Therapy enhances communication abilities, fostering social interaction and self-expression.
Physiotherapy addresses physical challenges, promoting mobility and overall well-being.
With Behavioral and Sensory Integration, we support students in managing sensory processing issues, enabling them to engage more fully in their surroundings.
Additionally, our Home-Based Outreach Therapy ensures that therapy extends beyond the classroom, providing support in familiar environments.
Inclusive learning is essential for creating an equitable educational environment. Through Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), we tailor our approach to meet each student’s unique needs. Our early childhood special education programs provide foundational skills, while our focus on reading, math, and literacy readiness equips students with critical academic competencies. We also utilize visual, auditory, and sensory integration tools to enhance learning experiences, ensuring that all students can thrive.

Life skills are vital for fostering independence and confidence. Our program teaches essential routines such as dressing, grooming, and hygiene, helping students manage personal care. Practical experiences like cooking, cleaning, and shopping provide real-life skills that are necessary for everyday living. Furthermore, we emphasize the importance of using public transport and money handling, along with opportunities for social interaction through camping, outings, and restaurant visits, preparing students for life beyond school.
Experiential learning is a cornerstone of our approach, enriching student experiences through hands-on activities. Our Art and Music Therapy incorporates rhythm, movement, drawing, and dance, fostering creativity and emotional expression. Through our partnership with Riding for the Disabled Kenya , students benefit from Horseback Riding Therapy, which promotes physical and emotional well-being. Our Gardening and Chicken Care program provides valuable environmental education, while Computer-Based Learning, including Reflex Math and other interactive programs, enhances digital literacy and engagement.

Preparing students for future employment is paramount. Our Pre-vocational and Vocational Training program includes practical skills such as sewing, beadwork, and home skills, which foster creativity and craftsmanship. We also offer training in mushroom farming and agricultural practices, providing insight into sustainable practices. Students engage in product packaging and creative enterprise, equipping them with entrepreneurial skills, while older students learn income-generating skills, preparing them for a successful transition into the workforce.
Our commitment to excellence extends to our educators. We prioritize teacher training to equip our staff with the latest methodologies and strategies in special education. This professional development ensures that our teachers are well-prepared to meet the diverse needs of our students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
